Today, on National Honeybee Day, we’re celebrating the wonder that honeybees contribute to our world and our uniquely crafted products. Bees are more than just buzzing insects; they are essential to our global food supply.
Did you know that one-third of the world’s food production depends on bees? Through pollination, these tiny heroes help crops reproduce, aid in seed production, and keep our world blooming and beautiful! Without them, many of the fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds we enjoy daily would be at risk. By supporting bee populations, we are helping to sustain a vibrant, healthy ecosystem that feeds us and other living beings.
The Goodness of Honey
At Perfect Bar, we’ve always believed in using the best ingredients nature has to offer, and organic honey is a cornerstone of that philosophy. Here’s why:
-
Anti-inflammatory and Anti-bacterial Properties
Honey isn’t just sweet; it’s also packed with natural healing power. Its anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties can support your immune system and overall well-being. -
Rich in Nutrients
Unlike refined sugar, honey provides a wealth of nutrients. It’s rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which help protect your body from free radicals and support overall health. -
Lower Glycemic Index
Honey has a lower glycemic index than refined sugar, which means it causes a lower, slower rise in blood sugar. This makes it a more balanced sweetener that won’t lead to energy spikes and crashes.
Sourcing Organic Honey & Other Organic Crops
We recognize the value that organic farming contributes to honeybees and other native bee species. Our commitment to sourcing organic ingredients whenever possible goes beyond just taste and wellness —it’s about protecting the environment and supporting sustainable agriculture – Here’s how:
-
Protects Bee Colonies
Through practices like crop rotation, using cover crops, and reducing pesticide use, organic farmers directly help protect honeybee colonies. By sourcing organic ingredients, we reduce the use of harmful pesticides that threaten bee populations, ensuring their survival for generations to come. -
Encourages Biodiversity
Organic farming encourages biodiversity, which is essential for a healthy, resilient ecosystem. Diverse plant life supports a broader range of pollinators and other wildlife, creating a balanced environment where everything can thrive. -
Creates a Safer, Stronger Ecosystem
Supporting organic farming helps ensure that the land remains fertile and productive for future generations while protecting the delicate balance of our natural world.
Most of the organic honey in the U.S. comes from smallholder and family farms in the Brazilian rainforests, where bees collect nectar and pollen mostly from wild plants. In 2024, we’re on track to purchase almost 5 million pounds of organic honey, which is used as the main sweetener source in all our products!
Honey Contributes to Our Cookie Dough-Like Texture
One of the reasons Perfect Bar has such a delicious, cookie dough-like texture is because of honey. It acts as a natural ingredient binder, holding all the nutritious goodness together. This allows us to avoid using preservatives or emulsifiers, so when combined with refrigeration, there is no need for artificial additives in our formulas. You can enjoy a clean, wholesome snack that’s as close to nature as possible, with a taste and texture you’ll love.
This National Honeybee Day, we’re proud to celebrate the bees and the incredible role they play in our food system. Their hard work allows us to create the Perfect Bar you love—packed with the goodness of organic honey and other natural ingredients. Thank you for joining us in supporting these vital pollinators and choosing snacks that are good for you and the planet!
