Health-Ade Kombucha

It’s no secret that Kombucha is a fan favorite around here. It’s one of those ancient medicinal remedies that has been used for ages and has finally gained ground in the U.S. relatively recently. Since then, we’ve been on the hunt for the best of the best. Kombucha is chock full of probiotics and enzymes, which have been known to assist with detoxification and gut health. It also contains glucosamines, which is essential to proper joint health.

Health-Ade takes its brewing seriously, using only four main ingredients: tea, sugar, water and scoby (a symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast that gives kombucha its fizziness). Kombucha is made via primary and secondary fermentation, which transforms sweet tea into kombucha and significantly reduces the sugar content, resulting in a delicious, bubbly, feel-good beverage that is naturally low in caffeine.

Health-Ade is the only commercial kombucha fermented 100% in glass, meaning no threat of leeching from toxic plastic or metal — which we give an A+ — and it’s bottled in UV-sensitive bottles to protect the probiotics from harmful light.

This brand goes the extra mile to ensure its product is the best it can be; this means staying small, all around. In fact, its kombuchas are brewed in tiny 2.5-gallon batches, ensuring quality in each brew. And even better, it’s naturally fermented. Justin and Daina Trout (a nutritional biochemist) and Vanessa Dew take pride in hand-crafting their kombucha without having to succumb to market pressures or compromised quality.
